Reinforcement
It is important to have a long range plan for reinforcement. Continued use of this plan communicates to the students that staff still expects them to follow the expectations. It also lets students know that teachers are willing to offer them the positive reinforcement.
Using these reinforcers also structures the adult behavior in that offering students reinforcement helps to keep the adults in a positive and proactive frame of mind. When you carry a handful of tickets or stickers, it is difficult to be negative - it is easy to reinforce students when you see them meeting expectations. Read more Successful Teachers…
Introducing a school-wide program to change student behavior and improve the school climate will require a reinforcement plan. Adults in the school will need to get students’ attention and it takes a visible and very consistent reinforcement plan to bring about change across an entire school setting.
