Curriculum Mapping

Curriculum Mapping is a process, an on-going process for planning, implementing, and reflecting on student learning.

Teachers have always used the school calendar to plan instruction. Using curriculum mapping software we can collect information about what is actually taught in the classroom to create "curriculum maps." These maps provide a clear picture of what is happening in the classroom at specific points during the school year.

Why We Curriculum Map

Benefits of Mapping

With a curriculum map you can...

Mapping the Big Picture: Integrating Curriculum and Assessment K–12

Basically mapping enables teachers to identify gaps, redundancies, and misalignments in the curriculum and instructional program and to foster dialogue among teachers about their work. As Dr. Jacobs points out in Chapter 1 of this book, however, curriculum mapping is ultimately targeted to the outcomes of “measureable improvement in student performance ... and ... a process for ongoing curriculum and assessment review.”

Curriculum Mapping Software

The software used in the Derry Cooperative School District is called Techpaths.
