Top 20 Energy Saving Tips
During one Go Green Club meeting, students brain-stormed ideas about what we all could do at home to save energy. Here's what our earth-friendly students came up with.
- Take shorter showers or a bath.
- Don't have your hot water set too high.
- Use solar power.
- Close the shades when it's hot during summer.
- Cover windows to keep out drafts.
- Turn out lights when you're not using them.
- Turn down the heat a little.
- Go outside to play instead of watching TV.
- Try to wash full loads of clothes or dishes.
- Shut off computer when not using.
- Unplug electrical gadgets and appliances when you can.
- Wash in cold water.
- Carpool, ride a bike, walk or take a bus.
- Turn off extra lights.
- Hang clothes outside to dry.
- Keep refrigerator closed.
- Plan your errands so you make one trip and make a list.
- Use energy-saving light bulbs.
- Eat cold no-cook food once a week.
- Play a musical instrument instead of listening to an IPOD.
